Question Problem with Computer…Internet Security software won’t fully install?
This computer has been repaired by the Geek Squad at Best Buy. The McAffee that was installed on it would show up as white when I wanted to open the program. So, I purchased another security software thing called TrendMicro. That, too, showed up with a problem, “Setup Interrupted”.

Now, everyone at everywhere says that Kaspersky is the best, so I went and bought it. I installed it, but when I tried to activate it with the activation code (which I need to completely finish the installation and get the security working), I get this (I took a screenshot of what I’m seeing on the screen after I’ve entered the code, connected to the internet and got past the “connected” page):

What is wrong with my computer that’s stopping internet security software from fully functioning and fully installing?
It’s not helpful to say ‘remove software’. Nothing pops up on the Kaspersky installation telling me what needs to be removed first, so I don’t know if there’s anything on the comp to be removed. Geek Squad put a bunch of stuff on it and removed McAfee when they tried putting on TrendMicro, but nothing worked, and TrendMicro isn’t on it. So there isn’t anything visible on the computer that I can see to remove.

The Best Answer Some anti-virus programs don’t play well with other anti-virus programs. You have to completely remove all vestiges of the old ones before the new can be installed properly.

Some anti-virus programs require a specific removal tool to properly rid your computer of it.

When finished with those removal tools, go to My Computer > C:Drive > Program Files, if there are any folders pertaining to the old programs delete them, then restart your computer. You can now install the new one.
