Top Internet Services in Japan
It’s not been long since Japan embraced internet but most people in the country face a severe problem of internet access. Most people in Japan were accessing internet through their mobile phones but things have started to change now and broadband internet access is being welcomed by more and more people.
There are several providers in Japan for internet access but the two most popular and top internet services in Japan include the ADSL and Hikaro or fiber optic connections. The top providers for ADSL internet access as well as Hikari include SoftBank, which is doing it through the Yahoo! BB brand and NTT (Nippon Telegraph & Telephone Corp.) through their brand called Flet. One of the biggest internet service providers in Japan is BBapply as they are the authorized agents for both Flet and Yahoo! BB and hence are able to provide a broad range of internet connections. The internet services are available in a variety of packages and differ from each other on the basis of speed and cost. One of the most important aspects is that all the packages are not available throughout Japan or in every city.
Although Japanese people can choose between Yahoo! BB and Flet (NTT) ADSL and Hikari connections, the market leader in ADSL is definitely Yahoo! BB. They not only have the best offerings in terms of cost of internet access, types of plans etc. On the other hand Flet by NTT is the leader in the fiber optic or Hikari market and has overwhelmingly captured the market. Flet is offering Hikari connection to almost all urban areas and now is reaching out to the rural areas as well.
ADSL vs. Hikari
Hikari or fiber optic internet services in Japan are available in two main formats. The first format is called the standalone or “Family” service where you can pull a wire directly from the street into your home or apartment. The second format is the shared service also known as the “Mansion” where you can buy the service from the street near your home to the nearest server device installed, which will deliver the internet signal to each home or apartment in a particular vicinity or block.
As of today, almost 40% of the apartments in Japan have installed the Mansion-type Hikari connection. The connection is made available within two weeks from the day you apply for it.
On the other hand, the ADSL internet service available in a variety of speeds is provided through a metal telephone wiring system. You can use the ADSL connection with or without your landline telephone service. It takes about a week to install the ADSL connection if you have already installed a telephone service. If the adequate telephone service is not there then it will take anywhere between 2-6 weeks for installation of the connection.
Both the connections have the ability to offer high speed internet access and hence will play an important role in shaping up the future of Internet in Japan.

Question I’m having trouble with Winrar?
I have windows vista. I downloaded a 40 day free trial thing with winrar this morning. For a while everything was fine. I ran a Norton Internet security test and then I couldn’t click anything off my desktop. So I uninstalled it and every icon except for another winrar thing and recycle bin looks like a piece of paper. I still can’t click anything from there. What do I do?
I can’t do a system restore for some reason.
