Sluggish Computers – How Registry Errors Slow Your Computer Down
Have a slow computer? You’re not alone. Many people suffer from computer lag that interferes with their work. “But I just bought this computer three years ago,” you say! I totally understand your frustration. I bought a computer five years ago and three years into it, I began experiencing severe slowdown. Unfortunately, at the time I did not know that my computer had a registry that needed to be cleaned, and therefore gave my computer away.
What is a computer registry? A computer registry is basically a directory that holds options and specific settings for your computer. Whenever you change something on your computer such as installing new software or updating your control panel settings, your computer’s registry is changed. After several years of modifying your computer’s software, the registry can hold pieces of code that are invalid or plain unnecessary for your current computer configuration. Your computer has to sift through this unnecessary information to get to the bits of code it needs to run your computer on a daily basis. This can result in a computer slowdown.
To trim the fat, one of two methods can be used. You can choose to learn how to edit registries and take out the unnecessary code yourself, or you can “hire” it done with what’s called a “Windows Registry Cleaner”.
I have seen both of these methods done, and both are valid ways to clean your computer’s registry. Learning can take a long time, but it can be done! I’ve personally seen people edit registries and fix their computers in no time. I’ve also seen people use software to fix their issues, which is way easier and less time consuming.
Understanding that your computer’s registry plays a significant part in the speed of your computer is the first step in solving your issue. Be sure to connect with a friend who can help you understand the role your registry plays, and who can perhaps help solve your issue. Fixing your computer’s registry is the first place to start when you are trying to solve a computer slowdown issue.
